Volunteer Program Mission Statement

Volunteers of the Boone County Council on Aging offer their time, talents, and skills, to support the mission of the BCCA.

Boone County Council on Aging Welcomes Volunteers

The staff at the Boone county Council on Aging (BCCA), Keen Age Center, extends a warm invitation to you to become part of our volunteer team.


Boone County Council on Aging is dedicated to all older adults by reaching out with programs to help enrich and improve their quality of life.

Who Can Be A Volunteer
Men and women from all walks of life generously volunteer their time and talents for Boone County Council on Aging. Volunteers enhance the ability of BCCA in its efforts to reach out to older adults, their caregivers and others. A volunteer must be friendly, have smile on their face and create a friendly atmosphere for all to feel welcomed and for you to receive a smile back.

If you are interested in volunteer services, please contact the Volunteer Coordinator at the Keen Age Center at 815-544-9893. You will be given a tour and introduced to staff during a personal interview. Training for volunteers and linkage to appropriate volunteer responsibilities will be provided. Volunteers are recognized for their dedicated hours of service at our annual event.

Thank you for your volunteer time - your enthusiasm and assistance is always welcomed and appreciated.

    VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES:
  • Greeters Desk
    - Welcome guests, distribute information and direct guests to appropriate area.
  • Meal on Wheels Emergancy Deliver
    - Deliver meals to frail, homebound individuals. Either with a set time or on an emergency call bases.
  • Medical Car Escort
    - Drive clients to medical appointments in Rockford area using agency medical car.
  • Keen Age Auxiliary
    - Meet monthly on 3rd Wednesday of each month. Members host annual fundraiser, special events and programs.
  • Newsletter Folding
    - Assemble newsletter and prepare mailing. Just come on the noted day, see the newsletter for the specific day.
  • SHIP and Circuit Breaker
    - Assist outreach staff in preparation of forms.
  • Computer Lab
    - Share computer skills and teach others new technology.
  • Special Events
    - Host the Boone County Keen Age Center Pavilion at the Boone County Fair, participate in parades and other seasonal events, assist with fundraisers, dinners and other event preparations.
  • Coordinate a program
    - Coordinate with the Program speakers, activities (games or classes), or events (tournaments).
  • Special Events
    - Host the Boone County Keen Age Center Pavilion at the Boone County Fair, participate in parades and other seasonal events, assist with fundraisers, dinners and other event preparations.
  • Indoor Plant Care and Outdoor Grounds Maintenance
    - Help keep the Keen Age Center looking wonderful!
  • Help decorate the Keen Age Center for the seasons.
  • Income Tax Assistance
    - Assist with income tax form preparation after receiving AARP & IRS training and passing the test.
  • Favors for the Homebound
    - Assemble seasonal favors for homebound individuals and special events.
  • Computer Skills
    - For maketing and fundraising or monitoring our website.
  • Share a talent or special hobby of yours
    - Share your talent or special hobby through a class or program.
  • Teach a class
    - Learn a skill and share it or teach from a talent that you have.
