Information & Assistance
The Boone County Council on Aging oversees many programs and services vital to older persons. Many services, ranging from information and assistance, public transportation, and legal services to health screening, counseling, recreation, education and housing assistance, are offered through the Boone County Council on Aging, the Keen Age Center. We also provide assistance and information on many Federal and State Programs that benefit the elderly. Our professional staff provides assistance and referrals with Medicaid, Medicare and insurance, food stamps, Social Security, SSI, income taxes, Circuit Breaker, Illinois Rx(pharmaceutical) and energy assistance in a confidential setting.
We provide this assistance both on site at the Keen Age Center, as well as through our "Outreach" program.
OUTREACH
Outreach assistance is provided by BCCA Staff in the homes of those individuals who are unable to come to the Keen Age Center. BCCA Outreach staff members "reach out" to link individuals to necessary services.
Outreach may be one of the most important programs BCCA provides for older persons. Older people who are not aware senior services are available and those who are isolated or difficult to contact are targeted through Outreach Services. Staff identify, locate, and inform isolated adults about available services, encourage them to participate and provide assistance in accessing needed services.
We "Reach Out" to help older persons to help themselves. If you, or someone you know could benefit from Outreach services, please contact the Boone County Council on Aging at 815-544-9893.
