Celebrating 35 years of service
Logo Contest
The Boone County Council on Aging (BCCA) is sponsoring a Logo Contest in conjunction with its 35th Year Anniversary. Put your creative juices to work and develop a permanent new logo for the Boone County Council on Aging.
The Boone County Council on Aging is a non-for-profit agency that is dedicated to all older adults and their caregivers by reaching out with programs to help enrich and improve their quality of life.
Services currently being offered include: Public transportation, medical car escort, nutrition programs, outreach, in-home care, computer lab, information and assistance, education, recreation, volunteer opportunities and other programs.
The goal of our comprehensive service planning is to assist individuals to enable them to live independently, as long as appropriate, with emphasis on meeting the needs of frail, vulnerable older persons.
Entry Rules:
- Must be at least 16 years of age to enter competition
- Application must accompany your Logo design - Download below.
- Limit three (3) entries per individual.
- Each Logo must be submitted on an 8 ½" X 11" sheet of paper.
- The deadline date for the logo and application is September 29, 2008 at 4:00 p.m.
- All Logo's will be displayed at the Keen Age Center from September 30, 2008 through October 24, 2008.
- Winner will be announced at the Black and White Dinner Dance held on Saturday, November 1, 2008 at the Community Building..
- The BCCA Board of Directors has the final decision and the right to reject all submitted logos and will not be required to select a winner.
Judging Criteria:
- Logo's will be judged by the BCCA Board of Directors and selected other individuals.
- The logo must include the words "Boone County Council on Aging".
- Must be the original work of the submitter.
- Must be free of any copyright or other property claims.
- The logo must be identifiable.
- If abstract, the logo must be simple and clear in concept.
- It must not offend any national, cultural or religious organizations.
- It must adapt well to electronic and printed media.
Prizes for Winner:
- $100.00 cash prize
- An engraved Brick installed along the sidewalk at the Keen Age Center
- Photo of you with your Logo to be published in the Boone County Council on Aging Newsletter and local newspapers.
Copyright, Right of Use:
- Upon completion of the competition, the BCCA acquires ownership of the winning logo by assignment of copyright, and the winning designer will disclaim any trademarks and all other rights related to the logo.
- The $100.00 cash prize to the winning designer consists of $50.00 for ownership rights and $50.00 for the competition prize.
- All other designs submitted shall remain the property of their creators.
BOONE COUNTY PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Adults 60 years and older - Donations Gratefully Accepted
Adults under 60 years: $2.00
Children under 12 yrs: $1.00
The Boone County Council on Aging (BCCA) offers public transportation service, equipped with wheelchair lifts, to all residents of Boone County regardless of age. Priority is given to medical and nutritional transportation needs of older adults and persons with disabilities. Door-to-door services are provided on a demand and response basis, Monday through Friday.
Reservations taken a day in advance from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Rides are provided from 8:00 a.m. to 4:15 p.m.
Transportation for medical needs into adjoining counties is available with, at least, one-week minimum notice. The cost for this service is $0.50 per mile.

HOW TO SCHEDULE A RIDE:
Reservations are required. Please call at least one day in advance to request a ride. (Exceptions are made for same day medical appointments in Boone County.) Provide the dispatcher with your name, address, your destination, time of appointment, and if you will need special assistance. Registration forms will be filled out by all riders. BCCA will make every effort to accommodate you.

Please be advised that Boone County Council on Aging has many videos and books on all aspects of care giving. These videos and books can be looked over and checked out. You may contact the Outreach Department-Mindy, Janet or Dorothy at 544-9893 to arrange for an appointment.

BOONE COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING HAS EVENING OUTREACH WORKER AVAILABLE
The Boone County Council on Aging/Keen Age Center has an outreach worker available for later hours by appointment only from Monday through Thursday. To make an appointment during this time, please call 544-9893 and ask to speak to the outreach department.
