An instructor from the
Belvidere Family YMCA, offers a fun low impact
aerobics class every Monday starting at 9:15 a.m. This class is geared toward
people with differing physical levels with modifications to the
exercises. The cost is just $4.00 per

is a number card game where “each player is dealt a stockpile of cards and
then attempts to win on playing all these cards by building piles in
numerical sequence 1 through 12.” |

S.H.I.P. COUNSELORS AT SHADLEY APPARTMENTS The Senior Health
Insurance Program counselors go to Shadley to assist residents
of the high rise with questions about Medicare, Medicare supplements, and
Medicare claims. |

500 CARDS Every Tuesday, unless otherwise noted, a group of
ladies and gentleman play 500 cards from 12:30 PM to approximately 3:00 PM. |

PINOCHLE There are two days to come and play Pinochle
(Mondays and Thursdays.) It is single
deck Pinochle and six (6) games are played. Pinochle is played from 12:30 PM

EUCHRE Every Friday come and play Euchre. You play eight games of eight hands per
game using five cards. Euchre is played from 12:30 PM to approximately 3:00

at 9 a.m. on Tuesdays. So ladies
gather together and pick-up your cue sticks and play

BOONE COUNTY COUNCIL ON AGING BOARD MEETING The monthly meeting of the members
of the Boone County Council on Aging/Keen Age Center are held on the
third Monday of the month at 3:30 PM.
Members come from different areas and backgrounds of the
community. These meetings are open to

BOOK EXCHANGE The
second Tuesday of the month from 10:00 AM to 10:30 AM, the book exchange is
available to bring in books or magazines to share with others and pick up
some new ones. You can keep the books
as long as you want to enjoy them. For

KNITTING FOR CHARITY A
group of knitters and crocheters will be meeting the first and second
Thursdays of the month to create hats, scarves, blankets, and other items for
those who need them. The supplies of
yarn will be provided and some needles are available for loan. We hope to see as many knitters and

KAC Auxiliary Members meet monthly and provide volunteer support
for the |

Newsletter Folding We
ask that anyone who wants to meet other people and have fun helping the Boone
County Council on Aging/Keen Age Center, come down to the center and help us
fold. Volunteers fold, insert
information, and label over 3,700 newsletters each month. You will get your hands inky and we
recommend that you not wearing light colors, but you will meet great people. |

LOW VISION SUPPORT GROUP
This
group provides persons dealing with their own vision impairment, or the
vision impairment of a loved one, the opportunity to meet and talk with
others experiencing the same problems.
Sometimes the best answers come from those who have experienced the
same thing. Meet with others and hear
from experts on how to not only cope, but thrive, despite vision
impairments. This group is facilitated
by a staff member from the Center for Sight and Hearing. |

EXTENDED HOURS FOR OUTREACH The
Boone County Council on Aging/Keen Age Center has an outreach worker
available for later hours by appointment
only from Monday through Thursday. To make an appointment during this time,

of Friends at Potluck begins at noon. Please bring a dish to pass program

55 ALIVE – AARP MATURE DRIVERS SAFETY CLASS This
is a two day paid (to the instructor) drivers class sponsored by AARP. It is designed to create safer
drivers. Some insurance companies
provide a discount upon completion.
The class size is limited. |

RULES OF THE ROAD This a one day free class sponsored by the Illinois
Secretary of State’s Office. It will
help you prepare for taking the Illinois State Driver’s Test and will promote
safer driving |

Basic Computer Class This
class is the Basic level in learning computers. Items covered will be
learning the basic parts of the computer such as the monitor, tower and
mouse; where different functions are on the keyboard and on the screen
taskbar; and how to use the mouse; program icons; word processing elements
such as fonts, styles, bold, italics; saving and printing documents. Class
size is limited. |

Microsoft Word Part 1 Introduction
to Microsoft Word where specific steps are broken down to help you master
each objective. Following completion,
you will be able to open, save and print documents as well as change basic
text formatting. These items are
taught in more detail in the Basic Computers. Class size is limited. Microsoft Word Part 2 In
this section, you will learn to use and customize the tool bar to simplify
document formatting. Class size is limited. |

Beginning Internet This
class focuses on learning your neighborhood and the world through the internet. There is a review of how to use the mouse.
Then you will begin getting to internet browsing with free internet browsers
and web addresses, working with internet explorer, searching the web by
scrolling and navigating to find information. The Basic Computer class is a
pre-requisite. Class size is limited. |
