Prairie State Legal Services
Prairie State Legal Services, a nonprofit organization has offered legal help in non-criminal matters for low income persons and older adult (60 and over) for more than 34 years, is expanding its services to Boone County. The program will focus its services on aiding older adults who are in the greatest social & economic need. Services include: Aiding nursing home residents with disputes regarding discharge or care; legal help for homebound seniors who are facing the loss of services needed to remain safe in the community; legal counsel for older adults who have difficulties making ends meet because of debts, including medical debts, denials of government income benefits, and many other problems. The receptionist at the Boone County Council on Aging (815-544-9893) will forward referrals to Prairie State Legal Services. Someone from that office will contact you to schedule an appointment at the Keen Age Center.
